My Journey to successfully loose weight had been an ongoing battle all my life. I took my health for granted until diagnosed many years ago with Type 2 Diabetes and as the years went on and my weight ballooned, I had even more weight related health problems. High Chloresterol, Hypertension, Acid Reflux and Sleep Apnea. I didn't really get serious about losing weight until August of 2011 and that's when I took my first Zumba class with Nina Merlonghi after having Weight Loss Surgery. I had Lap Band surgery in Aug of 2011 and was determined to be a success story, but to no avail my Lap Band was a flop. I went to every Zumba class I could possibly get into but it was something about Nina and her energy and her spirit that kept me coming back. Although I wasn't losing the weight Zumba was building my stamina and confidence, and Nina's encouragement helped to bring me out of my shell. In September 2013 I had the Lap Band removed and I was revised to RNY Gastric Bypass. I've been doing Zumba and other cardio for almost four years now even between surgeries I kept going to the gym because exercising made me feel good. This testimony is not to promote Weight Loss Surgery, surgery was my personal choice because of all the health problems that I mentioned earlier. This testimony is to encourage who ever is reading this to incorporate some form of physical/cardio exercise into your daily regimen. Make time to get fit and healthy, find an awesome instructor who cares about you and you physical being like Nina does. You'll be glad you did, I know I'm glad I decided to make changes because I found a real friend along the way and she kept me in the fight to get fit. I just want to say that for me surgery was never a "quick fix", I still everyday grind out in the gym between Zumba, Spinning, Weight training and walking/running outside. It's hard work but the pay off is in the picture below!
